Does Open Source Need SDOs? - Doug Davis, IBM

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

In the past when it came to standards development traditional standard bodies (SDOs such as ISO and OASIS) led the path through the development of paper standards that would then lead to development efforts to verify the specifications. Today, however, most open source projects are forgoing the SDOs and developing specifications that they then call "standards". What does this mean for SDOs? What about those consumers who demand "official" standards? Is there a path forward? This talk will go into the pros and cons of both worlds and how both have a place going forward.
