An independent analyst group Bitergia reported that women represented 9.9% of the population contributing to Linux kernel development and was responsible for 6.8% of the activity. Bitergia also reported that women contributed to 10.6% of the code commits and reviews into OpenStack.

A survey of a thousand female cloud professionals done by CloudNOW, a 503c non-profit reported that nearly one-third of the women surveyed believe they’ve been excluded from key opportunities because of their gender.

39 percent believe the estimated monetary impact of these compounded missed opportunities is more than $10,000 per year
25 percent do not feel that their company values the contributions of women

In this panel, we will be inviting Bitergia, Jocelyn de Gance, CEO of CloudNOW and others to share their point of view behind the data and the solutions underway and being proposed.
